Dorothy House Hospice Care

Dorothy House is an independent charity and all our services are available free of charge.

We provide compassionate care and support for people in our community with a life-limiting illness. Our focus is on quality of life, helping patients to live well and die well.

We give care and support to patients and their families across a 800sq mile area, which includes Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES) and parts of Wiltshire and Somerset.

About the Christmas Tree Collection

Please support your local hospice and help us to continue to provide FREE care to our local community. We would welcome a donation for the collection of your Christmas tree. Our volunteers will be collecting trees in the following postcodes:

BA1, BA2, BA3, BA4, BA11, BA12, BA13, BA14, BA15, SN11, SN12, SN13, SN14, SN15, SN16, BS31, BS39 and BS40. Please note, this list includes Chew Valley, which is a new collection area for 2025!

Don't miss out! The deadline for registering your tree is midnight on Monday 6 January 2025.

Every donation, large or small, means more patients and families across our community can benefit from our outstanding palliative and end of life care. Here's where your donation will make a difference in providing funds for vital patient care:

  • A donation of £19 Could fund an hour long visit by a Clinical Support Assistant to a patient’s home, to offer basic support, therapeutic care and guidance around making decisions at the very end of their life.

  • A donation of £32 Could fund an hour of training for our wonderful Volunteer Companions, teaching them the skills needed to offer companionship and emotional support to isolated patients, living alone at the end of their life.

  • A donation of £75 Could fund an expert counsellor to run a support group session for young adults with a life-limiting illness, helping them feel less alone.

Your tree will be collected by our wonderful volunteers. As we are unable to specify a collection date or time, we ask that you ensure your tree is left in a clearly visible, accessible and unobstructed location outside your property by 8am on Friday January 10 2025.

To ensure a speedy collection we ask that trees are clearly marked ‘Dorothy House’ and don't forget to use the new functionality of What3Words, especially if you are in a tricky location.

If your tree has not been collected by 5pm on Sunday 12th January, please get in touch with us by 5pm on  Tuesday 14th January, by emailing: christmastrees@dorothyhouse-hospice.org.uk we will do our best to arrange recollection. Any messages after this date, we will be unable to to add to our route.

About the Hospice

We believe every life is incredibly precious, and no one should face death alone.

At Dorothy House, we provide exceptional care to people here in our community who are approaching death. That means we’ve got you: we’re here for our patients and their loved ones, as much or as little as they need us. Our standard of care reaches deep into our community and equips more people to provide the care each of us deserves.

Our community supports us – we’re funded by you, the people living in the communities we serve. The donations we receive from the Christmas Tree collection campaign are essential in helping us continue to provide care – so thank you for taking part!
