Hear from volunteers
Watch volunteers share their experience of helping on a Christmas tree collection! What they did, what they enjoyed, and why they’d do it again.
Why volunteer?
This is volunteering that feels good because it actually does good.
Support local charities
Connect with causes close to home and see the impact first-hand. It’s a simple way to give back and support charities doing vital work in your community.
Do something active
It’s outdoors, practical, social and fun! Not the kind of volunteering where you sit around wondering why you came.
Help reduce carbon emissions
By helping collect and recycle Christmas trees, you’ll support an initiative that prevents over 1 million kg of CO₂ emissions from entering the atmosphere each year.

How it works
Step 1
Sign up
Register your interest and we’ll help connect you with a local collection where possible.
Step 2
Get briefed
On the day, you’ll meet the team, get a full briefing, and be assigned a role. Your safety is the priority, so we’ll talk you through what to expect, how the day will run, and any health and safety guidance you need. PPE is typically provided on the day too.
Step 3
Help on the day
You might be part of the van crew, ground crew, refreshment crew, steward crew, or another support role. We’ll usually match people to where their skills are best suited and where they feel most comfortable. There are always lots of ways to lend a hand.
Step 4
Go home knowing it mattered
You’ll have given back, had a laugh with a great team, and played a real part in supporting charities on your doorstep, the kind of day that beats the January blues.

FAQs
Do I need experience?
No. Most roles don’t require previous experience. You’ll be briefed on the day and told exactly what to do.
How much time do I need to give?
Most volunteer roles take place over one day in early January. Exact timings depend on your local collection.
Is it physical?
Some roles are active and involve lifting or being outdoors, but not every role is the same. Let us know what suits you best.
Can I volunteer as part of a team or company?
Yes. We welcome corporate groups and teams who want to support a local collection together.
Where do collections take place?
Collections happen in locations across the UK. Get in touch and we’ll help match you to the right local team where possible.
Can I suggest a charity or choose where the money goes?
Yes - we actively encourage volunteers to put forward charities they care about. You can suggest a local organisation to the lead charity to be considered for a community donation from funds raised in your area. Supporting causes that matter to our volunteers is a big part of what we do.
If you’d like your chosen charity to get involved on a larger scale, feel free to contact us and we’ll explore how they can be part of the appeal.
Ready to help?
