St John's Hospice, Lancaster

About this Collection

In January 2018 our Christmas Tree Collection raised over £17,500.00, which helped to help meet the fund-raising need for £9,000.00 per day towards running costs.  Over 1,720 individual collections were made using 18 vans with support from over 30 volunteers each day and over 10 tonnes of Christmas Trees were responsibly recycled. Some great local businesses have helped to collect and mulch the trees too!

We also make a % donation to local charities out of the money raised, so by supporting this initiative you are also helping more local people.

Here’s some examples of how £10 can help the hospice:

  • Every £10 can cover the hospice at home nurses to travel 75 miles to help patients in their own homes.
  • £10 will provide refreshments for our Day Hospice patients for a day.

The 2019 collection will take place on Friday 11th, Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th January 2019.

You can register your tree for collection either by filling in one of the forms which you can find in any of our local hospice shops, at our hospice reception or online at www.sjhospice.org.uk/recycletrees

About the Hospice

St John’s hospice has touched so many people’s lives within our community. For over 30 years the doors to St John’s have never closed – day or night. We have provided hands-on nursing care for local people facing the most challenging time of their lives, we have supported their families and friends and we have walked alongside them during their bereavement journey for as long as they have needed us.

However, we could not have done it without the amazing support from the community. We still receive only one third of our funding from statutory sources so we still rely on people to help us to provide support, care and hope for people in our community when they need it most; and remember we are a truly LOCAL charity, every penny raised here, is spent here.
