About the Hospice
Salisbury Hospice Charity was set up in 1981 by a group of local people concerned that patients with life limiting illnesses were not receiving adequate care. Through committed fundraising the Hospice was built and it opened in 1987.
Last year, the 10 bedded Hospice cared for 224 patients, whilst our team of community nurses and social workers, backed by volunteers, supported a further 582 patients in the community.
Our service catchment area covers a wide geographical area. It includes Salisbury and the rural area surrounding it, which includes parts of Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire.
The annual running costs for the Hospice are £2.3 million and with less than 50% funding from the NHS, Salisbury Hospice Charity aims to raise £1.5 million of these costs, each year, to maintain our services.
