About the Hospice
John Taylor Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care for people in Birmingham and across the West Midlands.
Founded in 1910, John Taylor is the oldest non-denominational hospice in the country. For more than 100 years it has been at the heart of the local community caring for generations of families. Gifted to the NHS in 1948, in 2011 John Taylor left the NHS to become an independent social enterprise – the first of its kind in the UK.
Both at the hospice in Erdington and in the local community, care is ‘Taylor-made’ to the individual ensuring people receive support how, where and when they need it.
Today more than 600 people and their families will receive the care they need from John Taylor teams. That may involve 24-hour care at the hospice, day services, counselling and well-being and a range of specialist services including nursing and practical care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy and complementary therapies.
John Taylor Hospice’s staff and volunteers are totally dedicated to making every moment matter for everyone they care for.
