Our 2025 Impact in the Community

We are  delighted  to share that January 2025 marked our biggest and most impactful Christmas Tree-cycle appeal yet!

Across the UK, thousands of amazing volunteers, charities, and businesses came together to collect and recycle real Christmas trees and raise a record-breaking £1.54 million for local causes.

At Just Helping, our mission is to enable people to support their local communities through volunteering and fundraising, and the Tree-cycle Appeal continues to be a powerful example of this.

Since launching in 2012, we've helped raised over £7.1 million for charities in every corner of the UK, transforming trees into vital funds for communities year after year.

In January 2025, the appeal broke all previous records. We are so proud of our 2025 Impact:

  • £1,540,190.36 raised for UK charities +£358,000 vs 2024

  • 72,950 trees collected and recycled +7,248 trees vs 2024

  • Over 3,070 volunteers took part

  • More than 700 postcodes covered across England, Scotland and Wales

  • More than 150 charities and community organisations supported

Our flagship Christmas Tree-Cycle Appeal offers a simple, effective way for individuals to recycle their tree while donating to local causes.

Where the Money Went in 2025

We are incredibly proud to share how the £1.54 million raised through this year’s appeal was distributed to benefit communities across the UK.

Together, an impressive 104% of every £1 donated (including Gift Aid and sponsorship) goes directly to charities. This exceptional outcome reflects both the generosity of our supporters and the efficiency of our model. A prime example of our commitment to ensuring donations create the greatest possible benefit for those who need it most.

Breaking down each £1 donated:

  • 81.6p went directly to our lead charity partners.

  • 5.3p was donated to local community groups nominated by the lead charity and the volunteers involved in the collection.

  • 13.1p was retained by Just Helping to support event delivery and future growth.

How we distribute the money raised:

  • £1,223,508 shared between 70 lead charity partners.

  • £79,275 donated to 103 smaller community groups and charities. We are delighted to support these organisations who create significant local impact working in a variety of social and economic areas.

  • £195,944 reinvested into Just Helping to cover operational costs and enable continued nationwide growth.

The Role of Community Donations

The £79,275 donated to smaller charities and community groups was nominated by volunteers and local teams across the UK.

These grassroots organisations supported the event in a range of ways:

  • Providing volunteers, marketing support, and refreshments

  • Hosting collection hubs, chipping points, and providing drivers or vehicles

  • Offering care and services that complement the work of lead charity partners

  • Strengthening community engagement and enabling new collections to grow

Beyond the funding, these donations directly benefit the local communities where collections took place, helping to sustain vital grassroots support.

Some recipients have long-standing ties to our lead charities or volunteers; others were selected for their community connections or outstanding local impact.

Together, we are building a stronger, more connected network of support.

Corporate Partnerships

In 2025, more national organisations stepped up in a big way to support the appeal. Corporate support continues to play a key role in the success and expansion of the Christmas Tree-Cycle Appeal.

This year, we were pleased to receive support from many businesses nationwide including;  Amazon, Biffa, Credera, Kier, Vitality. Their contributions of vehicles, logistics, and volunteer time helped power collections in every corner of the UK. These fantastic organisations recognise the enormous benefit of this event and the power of giving back to their communities.
