The Christmas Tree Collection - Who benefits from the event

Just Helping's key aim is to inspire people to reconnect with their communities and for communities to reconnect with their people through volunteering.

We work to bring communities together, helping a broad range of causes to from local projects and causes to international relief efforts. In 2024 more than 150 charities benefitted from the Christmas Tree Collection which operated in over 700 postcodes in the UK.

Our flagship event is the Christmas Tree-cycling Event. We love this event because it engages thousands of volunteers and hundreds of organisations to work together and contribute to their community. The collection engages thousands of people to donate to good causes while providing a valuable community service.

How we distribute the money raised

For every £1 raised via donations, gift aid, & sponsorship, we distributed 81p to the lead charity partner, 5.3p to local community groups/charities and Just Helping received 12.8p.

64 lead partner charities received £943,344.64 of the monies raised.

Just Helping received £149,148.32, which goes towards our costs running the collection and enables us to continue to further develop the platform and continue to establish more collections nationwide.

£61,292.92 was donated to the wider local community as nominated by our volunteers.

These 86 smaller charities and organizations provided crucial support, resources and volunteers to collections nationwide.

We are delighted to be able to support these community groups who have a significant impact working in a variety of social and economic areas locally.

Some of the recipients have close ties with lead charities providing complimentary services, care and support, others supported the event with volunteers, marketing, resources, refreshments and chipping points. Some were selected for their close ties to volunteers or the community.

Our key statistics January 2024

We work in close partnership with local charities and individuals that help us coordinate the event.  These charities play a vital role in our communities and that is why we support them as a major beneficiary of the funds raised by this event.

The Christmas Tree Collection event has been growing every year with a vision to offer Christmas Tree-cycling in every postcode within 3 years. We plan to continue this growth by engaging more volunteers, local charities, and corporate supporters across the country.

Just Helping and 64 partnering charities had an incredible year with record-breaking numbers of volunteers, donations and community involvement. We have increased the value of every donation and take-home value per tree this year whilst driving costs down via sponsorship and donation of resources.

Our Fundraising Impact

Since 2012 our collections have raised more than £5,700,000 for local causes across the UK spanning England, Scotland and Wales. This is an incredible achievement for our community to be proud of.

In January 2024 our community hit ONE MILLION raising a record breaking £1,182,192 and recycling more than 65,570 trees representing an increase in funds raised by £241,000 versus 2023. This is a truly monumental achievement when considering the economic climate and pressures faced by both the public and the charity sector.
