The Christmas Tree Collection - Who benefits from the event

Just Helping’s key aim is to inspire people to reconnect with their communities and for communities to reconnect with their people through volunteering.

We work to bring communities together, helping a broad range of causes to from local projects and causes to international relief efforts. In 2023 more than 130 charities benefitted from the Christmas Tree Collection which operated in 38 counties across England and Wales.

How we distribute the money raised

In January 2023, Just Helping and its community of partnered charities & volunteers in our community raised £940,663 and recycled more than 59,852 trees.

For every £1 donated, 16p was allocated to collection costs (bank charges, van hire, fuel) we then distributed 71p to the main charity partner, 4p to local community groups/charities and Just Helping received 9p to help us continue to grow the community and develop further Just Helping volunteer teams.

Our 54 Lead Charity partners who co-ordinate and operate much of the collection on the ground in their local area received £747,758 of the money raised. You can learn more our partners by visiting our Christmas Tree Collection page.

Just Helping received £93,786 which goes towards our running costs and enables us to continue to grow our community nationwide.

£40,324 was distributed into the wider local communities benefitting 68 local charities and non-profit organisations. These smaller organisations provide important support and opportunities for the public to volunteer and contribute to their community. You can learn more about some of these fantastic organisations on our community page.

Our key statistics January 2023

We are very proud of the work we do, our collaboration with local charities and causes and our positive environmental impact.

Our goal is to be able to offer the Christmas Tree-Cycling event in every postcode within the next 3 years and recycle as many of the estimated 8 million real trees sold annually in the UK. We were established in 2012 and have seen continual growth of the event every year. We want to engage as many people to volunteer and contribute to their community whilst raising as much money as possible to directly benefit people in need in the local community.
