We are incredibly proud to share that our 2026 Big Christmas TreeCycle Appeal has raised a record-breaking £1.85 million for charities across the UK.
Charities, businesses, volunteers and thousands of households came together across England, Scotland and Wales to collect and recycle 89,000 real Christmas trees, making this our biggest and most impactful campaign to date.
This achievement confirms the Big Christmas TreeCycle Appeal as the UK’s largest charity Christmas tree recycling scheme, supporting over 150 local organisations working at the heart of their communities.
Through the Big Christmas TreeCycle Appeal, we support charities working in the relief of poverty and the advancement of health from hospices caring for families at the most difficult times, to food banks, children’s charities, community groups and organisations supporting those facing hardship and isolation.
Through the generosity of thousands of households who registered their real Christmas trees for collection and made a donation, £1.85 million was raised in vital funds. Just Helping distributes this funding directly to participating charities, enabling them to continue providing essential care, support and services when they are needed most.
Many of the volunteers involved have a personal connection to the charities they support, which is why the TreeCycle Appeal matters so deeply.
For many, it is more than a tree collection day. It is a moment where people step up, get outside and choose to give back - to their community, to their local charities and to the planet.
Our volunteers give their time selflessly, often for causes very close to their hearts. They show up ready for the day, lift and chip thousands of trees, and brave all weathers, and do it because they understand the difference these charities make in people’s lives.
The impact of the TreeCycle Appeal goes beyond fundraising.
Each real Christmas tree that ends up in landfill can create around 16kg of CO₂. By recycling 89,000 trees this January, we prevented an estimated 1.4 million kilograms of CO₂ from entering landfill, helping households recycle responsibly while protecting the environment.
Helping communities and helping the environment. That is what this campaign represents.
