Why your business should support Corporate Volunteering!

Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) or Corporate social Responsibility (CRS) is an initiative that gives employees the opportunity to volunteer for a charity or non-profit during work hours. This can be a one-off day, such as a team building based volunteer day. Or a long-term regular commitment, for example, providing coaching or mentoring to a charitable organisation.

Group CSR days can improve communication, confidence and team working within your business and you will be strengthening your community with the skills and support your employees will be able to provide.

If you are wanting to arrange a CSR day for your business but don’t know where to start, why not consider these three questions:

What Sector do you work in? Is your company within the food and drink sector? Why not talk with local food banks about lending your team to help with their work.

What does your community need? Maybe you have noticed a rise in litter around the area, helping clean up the litter will not only improve the local community but will also make your business look better.

What are your employees passionate about? If you would like to commit to a long-term CSR plan you could have a monthly or quarterly volunteer day and have your employees decide and/or vote for which voluntary organisation they would like to volunteer their time to.

Several studies have concluded that team members are likely to become more engaged and happier in their roles when their employers offer them CSR days. CSR days provide a break from the normal working week, a fantastic team building opportunity and chance to give back to the community. It it's a win win for everyone involved.
