About this Collection
The 2019 Christmas tree collection was the first Christmas tree collection for Hospiscare and was a huge success collecting over 500 trees with on the weekend of the 11th and 12th January raising a total of £4,932.74.*
It is thanks to all the volunteers and the generosity of local residents who donated to have their tree collected that the collection has grown so quickly since it's inception in 2016 when it raised £3,500. The collection has grown in popularity each year with this year being a resounding success.
A local recycling company, Coastal Organics, supported the initiative by generously providing the containers needed and taking the trees to their site at Hill Barton, where within thirty minutes the trees had been chipped, ready to turn into compost to be used by local farms etc.
90% of the monies raised went to Hospiscare, £5,174.72 with £493.27 going to the local charity The Honiton Lions.
